Dirty Dancing Crop {recap}

So I just wanted to let everyone know about the crop last Friday! It was SUPER fun!! We played some fun games and listened to the soundtrack. I made a delicious supreme pizza pasta bake. I taught everyone how to make an origami dress, and we each made a little 'I've had the Time of My Life Thank You' card. (you can learn to make the dress here.) Here is a little fashion show for you, as you can see, each dress is a little different and reflects the artists' individual style. I just love them! ENJOY!

Down on Main Street 1 (Granby)

I have been going on random photography adventures lately and I love it!

I took sweet Holga down to my hometown a couple of weeks ago. I just got the photos developed. I am working on a series called "Down on Main Street." The following photos were taken in or around my hometown, most were actually shot on main street.

Happy Birthday DAD!

Last night I cooked up a wonderful meal for my family to celebrate my dad's birthday. It would've been the perfect meal for chilly weather, but wouldn't you know it--almost 90 degrees! That is typical Missouri weather, you just never know.

Anyway, I made a salad and broccoli and cheese soup in a bread bowl and a delicious chocolate cake. I also made a sweet little card for my dad. And you know what--I just realized that it is here on my desk! oops. Maybe I can stick it in his car today while he is at work.

Here is the card, very simple.

Hope your Sunday is lovely....

I am loving my iPhone so much. It is so nice--last week I was at the grocery store and I wanted to check a recipe to make sure that I wasn't forgetting anything and it was so easy to just check the recipe at the link on my phone...totally awesome and helpful!

Another great feature....The built-in camera and camera apps are so awesome. I didn't have my wonderful Holga with me, when I spotted the most wonderful little set-up downtown, but I was able to capture the beauty on my phone. Aren't these lovely?

A Sweet Little card

With an owl. I found this super cute owl stamp in the dollar bin and I just had to have him. I made a simple card, just for fun using some paper with lots of pinks. Hope you are having a lovely Saturday. I will be sewing (hopefully) all day...I am making a Halloween apron~ I will post pics soon. Enjoy!

Big Awesome Crop TONIGHT!

I a hosting a crop tonight and the theme is DIRTY DANCING!! (r.i.p. Patrick)

I am giving away a copy of the sound track and I have lots of fun things planned for my guests:
1. Make a vintage page using vintage photos
2. Make an origami dress (an 'I've Had the Time of My Life' thank you card!)

3. Song game and camp games
4. Listen to the soundtrack all night

5. Photo scavenger hunt game (find pictures of things like: 'baby' '2 people dancing' 'an old car' 'camping trip' 'dance recital'
6. Watermelon

7. Prize pack with fun summer papers and stickers:

8. Dirty Dancing Flair (I copied this from the flair app on Facebook and printed it onto cardstock. The circles can be cut out with a circle punch--super fun embellishment, I will be giving away a few sheets of these!)

Yahoo, I am so excited. I have some wigs...the gals will earn tickets for doing various things throughout the night and if they try on the mullet wig or the gray granny wig, they can earn extra tickets, and I will be posting those on my blog! :-)

I might be planning a crop in December based around the movie 'The Christmas Story'...I think that would be awesome!

Thanks for reading, as always, your comments are so special to me!

Halloween Treats!

I watched an awesome video over at Jennifer McGuire, ink about using plastic packaging to hold candy! What a great idea. I went shopping this weekend and I couldn't wait to pick up some candy, new scrappooking supplies and combine them both for some great Halloween goodies. Seriously, watch the video...these are super fun to make! Gave me a reason to use all those Halloween stickers that I am addicted to!

New Neighbors!

Aw, man there are some perfect stamp sets in the new CTMH Fall catalog that would be perfect for having a new neighbor...I guess I will have to put them on my wish list because I needed to make something this week to welcome the new guy in the neighborhood. Here is what I made!

A card: "Welcome to the Hood" I used mostly stickers for this and my own handwriting.

Salsa: The label is on the other side, but I wanted to make everything match. I didn't make the salsa, I got it at our local farmer's market!

Gift Bag: A little bit of random owl stamping....Hehe!

And here is everything together!

Some lessons are learned the hard way....

I think all kids go through a phase with scissors. I remember when I got my hands on a pair of scissors for the first time, I went through the house snipping random things (mom's sweaters, curtains, papers). I see little kids at school who get silly with a pair of scissors and cut their own bangs or take a big chunk out of their hair.

My little brother Gage found our dad's electric razor one time. He cut a big patch out of the top of his hair. Last week, my parent's took him to get his hair cut. Gage wanted the barber to use a '2' blade...dad made him get a '3'. When Gage got home, he found a pair of scissors (he is 9) and started cutting the top of his hair. His thinking was that dad would take him to get it fixed...and let him get it cut shorter. Nope. He thought wrong. My parents were so mad that they are making him keep his mangy new hair cut until it grows out. Yikes!

Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #50

Yahoo! I am so excited to participate in this week's challenge! The requirement was to use paper piecing in our creation. Well, I had two ideas so I made both (technically I made 3!)....One has paper piecing and one does not, but I had to make it anyway.

On Sunday, a couple of friends came over and we had lunch (Panera, YUM!) while watching Pretty Woman and then we started working our our creations. I borrowed the perfect stamp set from my friend Lindsay....I have always thought this particular CTMH stamp set was sort of hook-er-ish...especially with the saying 'live fast and stay pretty' so it was perfect for my card!

I created this little lady using pieces from one stamp and parts from a couple of others....I had to sort of make the boots, but she perfectly matches Vivian at the beginning of the movie! Hehe!!

I did end up creating two paper pieced gals, here is the first one, she has a red dress, sort of Vivian @ the Opera.

Here is my original idea. I wanted to create a polka dotted origami dress and put a little shopping bag on it to bring in both the scene where she goes to the horse races and all the shopping from the movie!

Anyway, I hope you enjoy my creations this week!! I had a lot of fun with this movie.I might be posting an update with my friend's creations unless they post them on their own...Go check out Abby's, it is awesome. Lindsay's is so beautiful!! You will love them both!!

Taking a little blogging break!

Hey guys! I think I have hit that natural 'lull in creativity' that comes after a period of uber-craftiness.....I am hoping it will pass soon, but for now I am going to embrace the fall t.v. lineup and try to fit some extra work-outs into my evening routines. I will try to stop by and leave some comments for you, but until something really inspiring comes my way, I may drop off my posts for a few weeks!

Take care!! See you soon!!

A Photo Shoot Sunday!

Whew, I have been working all weekend, with very little time to do anything super crafty. Today, I had little photo shoot for a sweet family. I got some great shots! I love it when I am working under the whims of a 3-year-old...they are always boss!
