Printing time.

I've been working in the darkroom!!

Here is my very first print....an 11X11 B&W photo from my Holga camera. This photo was taken on Freemont Street in Las Vegas in July.
Black and white negatives are so cool!!

I've printed several more photos...here they are...sitting out to dry. I'll show those soon!
My first test strip. The contrast looks great....super excited to print my first image!!

Mixing up the chemicals.
And here is my print in the stop bath.
Working in the darkroom is so relaxing. And there are so many things you can do to manipulate the pictures. More prints to come!!

Fun times @ Knob.

The hardest part about going to a conference for art teachers is coming home.
(Learning about Acoma pottery techniques....the weather this year was amazing, sunny and nice...we were able to sit around the fire pit in the open air amphitheater.)

At the MAEA fall conference, I totally fit in. Everyone there is interested in the same types of things as me, we do the same kind of work at our day jobs and we have like minds and spirits.

Its an easy place to make new friends, make connections, and get inspired and fired up for what I am doing in my classroom.

It is one of my favorite annual events because I get ideas for my classroom, validation, and everyone there appreciates what I do...because they do it too....so I am not afraid to be 100% myself...I can get away with being totally ME!!
(Sharing my lesson at Drag'n'Brag)

When I was little I went to church camp every summer. And a fall convention. And a spring retreat. I would get so fired up about my faith. These experiences were very powerful. And then I would come home. After such a powerful experience, the sight of a sink full of dishes or a suitcase full of laundry is so discouraging and depressing.

The TV is depressing, the daily routine is the 'grind'...I would get home from a really fun trip or a week at church camp and I would need a day or two to just to find some peace. My inner spirit was pulling in different directions, between the depression of being home and the enthusiasm of my experiences...I don't know if I will ever grow out of that. I imagine that the END of any trip or vacation brings a bit of depression....

(I met Danielle three years ago at convention...she met her husband two years ago and they celebrated their 1 year wedding anniversary this year!)

I am sad that KNOB is over this year....but I know I always have next year to look forward to.

From 2009:
It was freezing!! I wore my bear hat, red boots and sweatshirt the entire time!

Featured on the Birds of a Feather Blog today: Stop Motion Animation

I just love stop motion animation movies.

Recently I decided to go on a quest to find an app for my computer that would allow me to make little videos for my blog.

I came across a free download called FrameByFrame. It is super fun!!

I want to go back and add some music to this little movie, but it is fun like this....

If you have a webcam and a computer, this is a really easy little movie to make! TRY IT!!

If you decide to make a movie, leave a link in the comments, I would love to see it!

Longest 4 day week of the school year....

What a beautiful weekend!!

The weather was gorgeous here. Spent time with family, spent time outside, on a quilt at the park....made a 3 minute movie for a local film competition. Took some Holga pictures in the sweet sunshine.

And now....I'm looking forward to Friday....I have a massage scheduled...and a hair appointment...I will need a bit of pampering after this week.

Conference week.

Thankfully I don't have to sit with parents for hours and hours, I just have to stay late....I get a lot of work done in my room so its always nice to get ahead. But it is such a long week...Since I usually get to school by 7:00a.m., it is so exhausting to stay until 7:00p.m. two times this week...and I'll probably stay till five Monday night loading/unloading the kiln.

I am also getting a student teacher tomorrow. I think she will be amazing so I am looking forward to having her around.

Well I hope to post a bit more frequently this week than last....but it is a busy week so I will leave you with some pictures...my first time to this local pumpkin patch, so cute!

Vintage dress, jacket, shoes and purse!! YAY!
Oh and this weekend was the local Maple Leaf festival....so amazing!!
